Introducing Slow Flow Yoga for Mixed Levels

January 23rd, 2011 Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Come to ‘Slow Flow’ Yoga for Mixed Levels, now at The Wellness Institute of East Hill on Wednesdays 9:00 to 10:30 with Melanie Summers, resident yoga instructor. This small class (never more than 5 participants) is targeted for ANYONE (age, shape, level, etc.) who wants to let go of the hustle and bustle of daily life and receive a little peace for the body, mind and spirit. You’ll leave a little lighter than when you came in by learning ways to incorporate the path of balance and peace in your life while practicing yoga poses with synchronized breathing to the sounds of a fun playlist, ranging from sacred chants to the Beatles and Janis Joplin. $10 donation suggested.

Melanie Summers took her first yoga class in 2008, sparking a profound love and passion for the yogic path. This love soon lead to a Yoga Alliance 200 hour teacher training program at Dragonfly Yoga School in Fort Walton Beach with Laura Tyree. She is currently studying with the Surya Chandra School at the 500 hour level. Melanie is particularly gifted at designing classes that are tailored to the specific needs of each individual.

February 9 – Finding Ease in Strength

A Tale of Two Mexican Cities

March 7th, 2010 Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »

I just returned on March First from a two city teaching tour in Guadalajara and Monterrey, Mexico. Ruperto Charles Torres of the Milton H. Erickson Institute of Monterrey organized these training events. It was my third time to present for him but the first time to do two cities slammed together and my first visit to Guadalajara. In Monterrey, we created an hour long bi-lingual, dual induction recording as I offered a group induction entitled ‘Lighten Up’ in English (only language I speak) as Francisco Martinez Escamilla echoed every word I said in Spanish. It was a moving experience! I am deeply appreciative for all the love I received in abundance. Thanks to all of you beautiful people!

In the Health & Wellbeing section of Pensacola News Journal’s Bella Magazine (November issue) Beth Ramirez De Arellano authored this article called ‘Retrain The Brain’. She described stories of women finding healing and therapy in hypnosis. She interviewed me and others about just what clinical hypnosis is and how clients can use it for physical problems, habit control, stress reduction, and more. She specifically addressed myths as well as methods for seeking help with hypnosis. Read it here:

Happy Birthday, Alicia

December 26th, 2008 Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Well, Christmas is past and we are now coming up on the 23rd birthday of my favorite daughter Alicia on December 30. She took home her combo Christmas and birthday present – a Yamaha digital piano – while she was here at Thanksgiving. But on the December 21st winter solstice, she performed this impromptu recital of a few pieces that demonstrate her talents and wide range. It should be noted that all were played from memory, even the really hard rondeau by Mozart. And she did it all in shiny high heels!

Elf barn dance

December 17th, 2008 Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »

We’re having a rollicking good time Christmas here at the Wellness Institute. It’s been a year worth celebrating, that’s for sure! For one big thing, we have our own real life barn on board that features Tim’s luthier workshop space downstairs and a magical upper room that wonders what its future will hold. We’re pondering the possibilities and dancing a happy jig.
